Choosing the right storage method for your flocked artificial Christmas tree
If you’ve just spent hours decorating your artificial Christmas tree, you’re probably not in the mood to pack up and move it out of the way. But it’s important to store your artificial Christmas tree properly so that it retains its beauty for years to come.
Here are a few expert tips for storing flocked artificial Christmas trees
- Remove all decorations and lights from the tree.
- Unplug the tree and turn off all lights.
- Remove any stands or water buckets from the base of the tree (if applicable). Some flocked trees come with their own storage bag, so make sure you have one handy before removing anything from your tree!
- Make sure the tree is dry before putting it away. Use a soft cloth to wipe off any excess water from the branches. Allow the tree to air-dry completely before covering it with a blanket or sheet. Dampness can cause mildew, which can stain and damage the flocking on your tree.
- Choose a place that is cool and dry for storing your artificial Christmas tree. Avoid basements, attics and closets that have a strong scent from previous years’ holiday decorations or storage items. A garage may be an ideal location if it doesn’t get too cold there during winter months. Also keep in mind that if you live in an apartment building, you may need permission from your landlord before placing anything large in the garage space allotted for residents’ parking needs.
- Clean and dry the tree before storing it. Make sure all water is removed from the stand and that no water has collected on the branches or trunk of the tree.
- Make sure all lights are off before storing your tree in an attic space or other area where it could be exposed to extreme temperatures that can damage delicate parts like bulbs or wiring. Store it away from children and pets so they don’t knock it over accidentally or pull on any loose branches or decorations.
- Place a large trash bag around each end of your artificial Christmas tree stand before putting the entire stand into storage mode (this will keep dust from getting inside). Wrap any loose branches with paper towels if they feel loose or weak—you don’t want them coming off while in storage mode!
- Store your artificial Christmas tree away from any other items so they don’t get damaged by being knocked over (a closet works
- Clean it up first. Before you put away your flocked artificial Christmas tree, make sure you clean up any messes left behind by pets or children. The last thing you want is to bring out your beautiful flocked tree in January only to find that it’s covered in pet hair or worse — crushed by a child’s foot!
- Choose the right storage method for your style of tree. If you have an artificial pine-scented evergreen with pine cones on top and berries along its branches, you might want to consider a different storage option than if you have an all-white tree with no special touches added at all!
